I'm not a foodie. I'm not a foodie. I'm not a foodie.

Click at the links below to visit two great websites with photos of what foodies like the most. FOOD.

But... am I really a foodie?
I know I'm definiely not a gourmand. (gourmand is a person who takes great pleasure in food; a person given to excess in the consumption of food and drink; a greedy or ravenous eater.- from Wikipedia)
So, yeah... Maybe I'm a foodie... But it is almost exactly the same as gourmand. The difference may be the sound of this word. A bit immature, infantile... like this one--

Yeah... I think that foodies have a different attitude towards food in terms of feelings. For them it's like experiencing childhood again durig consumption of their favourite dishes.
What's my favourite dish?
Hard to say ;)
I'm definitely a big fan of spanish and italian cuisine. I love all kinds of pasta and tortilla, I like paella,
fresh vegetables from a market in the heart of Barcelona...
pizza with zucchini sold in pieces near railway station in Rome... ;)
It's actually funny, that when I think about these goodies, I can smell their mouthwatering aroma.
And I immediately become hungry :)

Let's change the subject. The pics You can see at the top of the post show the effect of my attempt to cook something healthy, good looking and edible. My problem is that I can almost never combine those three features in one meal. So this time my dish was good looking and edible. Not bad.
In fact I forgot to do shopping, so I had to use random, but edible components from the fridge and shelves.
I made two dishes: 1.pasta with sauce and meatballs, 2.spicy chinese vegetables (not photographed).
I felt real relief that no one from my family got sick.
Not that I'm a terrible cook or something.
It's just that I'm better at taking pictures of food than at preparing it myself ;)

So- am I a foodie- a person with a special interest in or knowledge of food (Wikipedia)?

I don't think so.

Good example

What is so special about this country?
I have only been there twice and I'm already in love with it. Am I mad or something?!
Nooo, look at the offer of this pretty cool shop with stuff for people like me ;) :Union Jack Gifts
What do we have here...?
Not just Union Jack t-shirts, mugs and posters but also underwear, panties -- yoga mats, pet stuff, golf balls... yep. That's enough for me, but You can find much more interesting items of all kinds
(and sizes ^^) on their website.
Does anyone else have any doubts what country I'm talking about?
No? Cool ;)

I think is actually really nice, that in the UK they have such a wide offer of stuff with their flag on each item. In my country (Poland) ...I don't know, how to call it... We're ashamed of our flag or something. Not all of us, of course. It's just... not like in other countries where yo can see their flags everwhere, not just in shops with souvenirs and that kind of stuff. Here's an example:

OK, right... Maybe in this case it's too radical, but look at that:

Nice trainers ;) I haven't found any cool trainers with polish flag, no- actually I haven't found any. At all.
It's not like I don't like the way our flag looks like. I thinks it's very beautiful and minimalistic...
But there is no good and fashionable stuff with Polish national symbols to wear on the streets. T-shirts are only designed to be worn by football funs and tourists.
So I call on all of the Polish fashion designers to create something with Polish flag that could be worn not only during the football matches but also in everyday life.

Photos come from different websites, click on them and You'll see the address.

Tasteful life

'You are what you EAT' the old saying goes...
Now, when slow food is so popular, we have basically taken it to another level
And its name is...
What exactly does this, hmm, strange combination of words mean?
We should be grateful to Rosalind Coward who wrote in her 1984 book 'Female Desire':
"Cooking food and presenting it beautifully is an act of servitude. It is a way of expressing affection through a gift... That we should aspire to produce perfectly finished and presented food is a symbol of a willing and enjoyable participation in servicing others. Food pornography exactly sustains these meanings relating to the preparation of food. The kinds of picture used always repress the process of production of a meal. They are always beautifully lit, often touched up."
Yep. I totally agree. OK... Maybe except for one thing- you don't have to PREPARE the meal to be the master of food porn (yeeeaaah- it sounds quite awkward ;) ). The clue is to take nice pictures of it. That's why there are tousands of blogs offering great pleasure for the eyes (*.*) in spite of he fact that some their owners have no idea about cooking. They may not be the majority but still... In the cities or even small towns you can notice some young hipsters holding their i-Phones strangely lose to their meal. A group of them aren't that discreet and openly show off with their Nikons or Leica Cameras...
What happens with the pictures after this photoshoot?
The answer is obvious- social media- Facebook, Twitter, Instgram, Tumbrl, various blogs
like ONCE ONE GIRL- easy to remember, hard to forget...
Hahaha, that's my new motto...

Sounds like a threat, doesn't it? ;)
Maybe this way? ------------->>>

Anyway, I recently read in 'Glamour' that food is the new sex.
'WTF?!' I tought...
After a while of digesting this text I have an opinion that in some aspects it can be
true- food has an effect on senses and creates a feeling of pleasure.
In my next post I'll write more about it.

Sooo, guys- what do You think?  ^.^
