My favourite things of 2013

Because this year is coming to an end and an anniversary of our blog is in less than a week, I'd like to make a little SUMMARY:

- We wrote more than fifty posts.
- We had almost 10K views from Poland, USA, UK, Germany, France, Russia, Italy, Latvia, Thailand, Czech Republic and more.
- Our most popular post has been New old school (so far).

Here are some of my my favourite photos taken by me THIS YEAR and uploaded on our blog:

What I get for (and from) Christmas

One and only... Christmas time. One and only... Christmas card that I sent. One candle that we lit on my great grandmother's grave.
Christmas is a really meaningful time of the year. At least it should be... the time of love, forgiveness, reflections. Now I feel like it's not that important. Maybe I'm just more cynical, but I have an impression that the meaningless things have overshadowed the quiddity of Christmas - it's exceptional magic.

Jeden jedyny... czas Świąt. Jedna jedyna...

Anyway, I have my own way to celebrate this time of the year. I try to avoid crowds (which is a great challenge). I do the shopping in advance. I help my grandmother in the kitchen. I make the gifts for the members of my family by myself (not all of them, but at least a few). I send Christmas cards...
Well... as I said at the very beginning, this time it was just one card. I sent it to a very special friend of mine. I also received just one card. The rest of wishes were sent to me and by me via Facebook. I don't say that it's bad or something. It's definitely a great convenience. But at the same time... Christmas cards can't be substituted with one 'click'.

Do mnie też przyszła jedna kartka.

Are we a generation of illiterates? I hope it's not that bad, but sometimes I have a feeling that we are. We stopped reading books which are not compulsory, we stopped writing letters. The 'normal' blogs with something valuable are being replaced by video blogs about nothing...
I, personally, suffer from that kind of stuff too. It's harder for me, compared to the past, to sit and create anything. It's much easier to switch on my laptop and watch a movie or read stupid things about celebrities. Although, as I said, that life is much more convenient, I feel like something in it is missing.

Maybe it's this an impression that I'm just an ordinary consumer of what has been prepared and sold... A feeling that I'm a target of mainstream and advertisements. Was people's life easier before that? Were they happier? Without omnipresent ads of Coke- 'THIS DRINK IS THE ONLY THING THAT CAN MAKE THIS CHRISTMAS MAGICAL!!!'.
So it means that in the era before Coke there was no happiness and 'magic'? Good to know.

Leaving my depressing thoughts aside, I'd like to wish You all wonderful time spent with Your friends, relatives, maybe somebody special. Switch off Your TV, mobile phone and computer. Enjoy the time spent with people You love. Try to avoid the arguments and live the moment.
Best wishes,
Jane

Niezależnie on moich depresyjnych myśli, chciałabym życzyć Wam wszystkim cudownego czasu spędzonego z przyjaciółmi, krewnymi, może kimś wyjątkowym. Wyłączcie telewizory, komórki i komputery (tablety, laptopy, konsole też ;) ). Cieszcie się czasem spędzanym z ukochanymi osobami. Unikajcie kłótni i żyjcie chwilą.
Najlepsze życzenia,
Jane

Not really white Christmas.

They have a long tradition, are being held in many countries and many of us (I'm talking about Polish ppl) don't know that they actually didn't originate in Poland, but in fact they come from central Europe- Germany, France, Austria, Italy... I'm talking about Christmas markets, which are also called 'Weihnachtsmarkt', 'Christkindlmarkt'... (they have more names, check out Wikipedia, I don't want to copy the article ;)). These names  are obviously in German- 'Weihnachten'= 'Christmas', 'Christkindl'='Little Jesus'.  'Markt' means without any doubt 'a market'.

Nazwy te pochodzą oczywiście z języka niemieckiego- 'Weihnachten' to Święta Bożego Narodzenia, 'Christkindl' to Dzieciątko Jezus. 'Markt' oznacza oczywiście jarmark.

In Cracow, we have one of he most beautiful Chistmas markets in Poland. It is situated on the main square- the largest medieval town square in Europe. It is held there every year between the 25th of November and the 26th of December. In 2008 Weihnachtsmarkt in Cracow was put on a list (prepared by 'Times' magazine) of 20 the best european Christmas markets.

Altough in Cracow this winter is not really a winter (at the moment we have no snow), the citizens and tourists can feel the atmosphere of Christmas by coming to the market square where they can find dozens of market stalls selling delicious traditional delicacies, handmade gifts, local crafts, jewellery and Christmas trinkets. Captivated by the rich offer of the market I also visited it and took some pics which You can see in this post and on our fanpage. If You want to find out how the Weihnachtsmarkt in Cracow looks covered with snow, check out this link.

Outdoor activities with my younger sister

Well, well, well... here it comes - our 50. post ;) It's been nearly a years since I posted something for the first time. It feels more like a few days than 11 months. I and Naya had so much fun writing and taking pics, that we almost forgot about another important thing (urgh -.-) -->school. That's why this period was also quite difficult and we couldn't insert our posts regularly. However, we're very happy, that You've stayed with us anyway. ^^

No więc... oto nadchodzi- nasz 50. post ;) Minął prawie rok od kiedy dodałam pierwsze zdjęcia. ^^

Below You can see the effects of a creative afternoon with my younger sis- a future artist ;) This pictures were taken at the end of October. I was so busy with my exams, that I couldn't insert them on our blog until now. By the way, isn't needlework a great way to spend Your free time? :D I try to consider it when I have a temptation to sit in front of the TV or computer (unfortunately, sometimes I'm too tired to do anything else).

Have a nice lecture ;)

Miłej lektury. ;)

Let's start! Components of the recipe for the 'Autumn leaves': autumn leaves ^^, paint, paintbrush, markers, pens, crayons, glue, sheets of paper, scissors...
No to zaczynamy! Składniki do przepisu na 'Jesienne liście : jesienne liście ^^, farba, pędzle, pisaki, kredki, długopisy, klej, kartki, nożyczki...

Firstly, we painted the leaves, then we imprinted them on the sheet of paper.
Najpierw pomalowałyśmy liście, a potem odcisnęłyśmy je na kartce papieru.

Then we outlined them...
Następnie obrysowałyśmy je...

...and added some ornamens.
...i dodałyśmy parę ozdóbek.

Paintbrushes and paint- You're gonna need them.
Pędzle i farby- z pewnością Wam się przydadzą.

Markers are useful too.
Pisaki też są potrzebne.

Here are the effects of our work:
