Angels and the city

 

 Summer. Sun, see, beach. Drink with a straw. Really???

Definitely not for me. I fancy something that is quite different- big city life.

It's not just about the cafés and shopping malls.

It's the philosphy of life- maybe to hectic, but I'm still in love with it. 

I can't imagine myself living somewhere else like e.g. in a village. 

Am I a city slicker? So what? ;)

A very friendly place. Although it's close to the Main Square, 

it's not as crowded and commercial as other places in its surroundings 

but really charming and inspiring.

Go upstairs and dicover a must-see concept store 

full of designer, gorgeous objects.

Hot-air balloons in the freezing air

Imagine a white, empty (almost) space. 

You're driving a car with your annoying family, 

listening to a caterwauling music on the radio and generally dropping off.

Suddenly You hear Your younger sister screaming with excitement: 

'Mommy, look what I've found!' pointing at the sky. 

I'm wide awake.

Hot-air balloons! What a view!

After my request, we headed towards the airport near Nowy Targ (an hour drive from Kraków, Poland) where the event was taking place.

We neared enough to take some nice close-up pictures.

Visiting row houses in Toruń, Poland

Toruń is famous for many things- gingerbread, Copernicus and... 

gothic row houses (also called townhouses) situated on the Old City Market Square. 

What is so special about them? A long history? Rich colours and ornaments? Accommodation? Everything mentioned. To be honest with You, I have to say that what I've liked the most was the texture of a facade when the sun reached its zenith (Picture 5.) 

and when streets were empty (Picture 3.). 

It was so hot that only tourists (Picture 6.) - and I - decided to go out 

and get sunburned...

Little, charming antique shop in Toruń

It was really hot (boiling hot, I should say). 

I belonged to those daring (reckless) people who went out on a steaming asphalt. 

My intentions were pure- I wanted to discover Toruń- one of the most charming towns in Poland. Unfortunately, I chose the wrong time- the end of  July, which is probably the hottest month in this country. Despite those circumstances I was able to learn something:

Toruń (also: Thorn, Thorunia, Torunium)  is one of the oldest towns in Poland. 

It has a really gripping history and traditions. The most worth visiting is the main square with its surroundings (Old City Town Hall, Gingerbread Museum,  

Centre of Contemporary Art "Znaki Czasu", Nicolaus Copernicus House, Astronomy Observatory).

The pictures above have been taken inside one of those lovely junk shops in the centre of the town 

(1., 3., 4., 6.) and Old City Town Hall (2., 5.). 

A bit of art (and air-conditioning) saved me from an impact of blistering heat.

Family life. Quite an art.

Who and what do we wish to remember? Why do we keep photographs? 

When do we look at them? What do we see in them as we don't all see the same things?"

A Family Hairloom 

Photos are an important part of family life, a kind of documentation of  unforgettable moments. 

But they're useless if just saved on a disc. Their destiny is  to be shared.

Cozy autumn in Bayern, Germany

In one of the previous posts, I have told You about my personal bonds with that area. 

Now it's high time to tell You something about the region. Bayern is the biggest province (Bundesland) located in south-eastern Germany. It is a perfect place for tourists because of the Alps, gorgeous lakes and historical places. 

And now something about traditions. 

You might have heard about 'Oktoberfest'. 

Yes, You certainly have because the festival is connected with beer ;).

'Oktoberfest' has taken place every year since 1810 at the turn of September and October in  München- the capital city of Bayern. 

People from all over the world come here to celebrate and taste the wonderful german beer and sausages. The statistics show that nearly 6,5 million people take part in 'Oktoberfest' every year. 

Unfortunately... we didn't. So I don't have any photos.
